30 cm COIL POT
My 30cm coil pot is a pretty wavy, water/sea/tentacle themed pot. I actually didn’t mean the pot to be like this, but everyone is telling me that It seems like the sea so oh well. The pot was made with “melting coils “ because I wanted my pot to be different from other pots. All pots were going to be a mix of coils, balls, and swirls so I wanted something that was unique for my pot only. I solved that problem by adding bigger balls, tentacles, corn shaped bricks and, as I said “melting coils”. I also have 3d swirls that looks really really cute (they are my favorite) I also wanted to branch out my pot … which was pretty risky since it was such as big pot and I didn’t know if it was able to stand the weight of the pot. It did though! And It looks nice. I really like the “butt crack” of the pot ( the part that the 2 come together because it looks really really organic.
I used Iron lustre over Blue Rutile for the glaze, which turned out more purple-brown than blue-grey, to fit my theme. It didn’t have too much color variation throughout the pot and it seemed nice for my very textured pot. Unfortunately, the glaze didn’t like me ( nor any of the other victims of the glazes) because it decided to be very different from what it said on the lable. It still looks pretty nice though, a little darker than I expected, but nice.
Overall, I would say that I like this pot, even more than my pinch pots! Plus, now that I made a 30cm pot, the pinch pots look so tiny! I remember them to be so much bigger ( especially my poka-dot tea pot)
